VINE: Victim Information and Notification Everyday
The Blue Earth County Jail is located within the Blue Earth County Justice Center. All criminal justice functions including District Court, County Attorney and Probation and the Sheriff's Office which includes Emergency Management and 911 Dispatch also reside in the facility. The Justice Center opened in the spring of 2009.
A new jail was needed and required by the State due to several factors including inadequate space, inmate crowding, out-of-date technology and safety issues such as poor sight lines.
Formerly the jail was located in the Law Enforcement Center on Front Street in downtown Mankato since 1972. The City of Mankato Police Department continues to house their offices at the Law Enforcement Center.
